There are certain events you will notice on a regular basis. We have certain things we do for familiarity because they are fun. Below is a partial list of things we do, where they are, and why we do them.
Big Chill at the Graduate 990 Industrial Way, SLO
On the FIRST Saturday of each month, we go to the Big Chill dance at the Graduate in SLO. The only exception is if there is a conflicting event that enough people are interested in. Of course, some of our members are such creatures of habit that they will go to this no matter what. I do encourage some variety, but if our members want to go do this instead of the other event, I suggest getting to know each other so you can sit together at a table. They play music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, and we enjoy dancing to that type of music. Whether you can dance or not, come join us for some fun and to meet. The Grad has a good menu, and we usually get there early to have dinner. If you do that, you get in before cover charge starts. If you get there after 8:15, you will pay $5 cover. I suggest having a meal with us, but also encourage either paying for food or paying to get in so they continue to do this for people our age.
SLO Downtown Farmer's Market Higuera St. between Osos and Broad, SLO
Each Thursday night you can usually find me downtown handing out flyers. I stop in front of Jamba Juice on Marsh Street by about 5:30 (sometimes a bit later, depending on time copying) and start walking into the Farmer's Market about 5:45. If you get there a bit late, or know you will go late, call me at (805) 602-0051 to let me know, and we can arrange to meet up. There is a lot of fun entertainment downtown. If you have never been there, or are curious about the history, I will be happy to give you the basic tour and introduce you to Bubble Gum Alley (be sure to bring gum!). I will tell you some little known facts, show you some interesting things, and tell you how it all got started and what part I inadvertently played in it (along with hundreds of others).
CCS Singles Mingles Various Locations on the Central Coast
Every month we have our meeting/mingle at a restaurant in the local area. We alternate locations so more people can come to the meeting and find out what is going on. We alternate from Pismo Beach/Five Cities to Atascadero, then to Santa Maria, and our 4th meeting is at San Luis Obispo. We then start the cycle again. Usually we go to Coco's in Pismo Beach and Hoover's in Atascadero. We do not yet have a regular location in Santa Maria, nor in San Luis Obispo. Check the calendar or contact us to find out when and where the next one is. We usually do them on the 3rd or 4th Saturday of the month.
