Central Coast Singles News

February 3, 2008What's going on for the month?
Upcoming events for February

The first Saturday of each month, we usually go to Big Chill at the Grad in SLO. This month, however, they showed a fight so we didn't go there. They are doing the same thing next month, so we will have to figure out what we are going to do. Every month, though, you should join us. It's fun and there will be lots of singles to dance with. If you don't know what it is, they play music from the 50s to the 90s, and it's all people "our age" lol. I really hope you'll make it. PLEASE RSVP so I can hold enough tables together. Let me know if you need directions or more info. If you show up after 8:15 it costs $5, otherwise come eat dinner before that. 7:30 is a good time to come.

NEXT Saturday is a huge event. That is our Sweet Singles pre-Valentine's Dance in SLO! Don't miss this one, and bring your single friends. It's going to be a great time. We had over 50 singles at our last dance, and I'm counting on going over 100 this time. You really have to come to this! It starts at 7:30 and we have DJ Avery again. He was great last time, and is doing it again. It costs $7 and there will be beer, wine, soda, and water available. If they have the normal bartender, don't go near him other than getting your drinks! He's a real player and will try to seduce all the women. If he's not there, we will have a tall friend with long hair. He's okay lol. Also, we ask that you don't wear high heels, boots, or any shoes that may damage the wood floor. The finish can't take the beating. It is at the Grange Hall 2880 Broad St. in SLO. You can map it, or ask me for simple directions. Please RSVP to ccoastsingles@yahoo.com for this. If you only go to one event, please go to this one, and help spread the word. Please tell your coworkers and friends!

Valentine's Day, we will have dessert at Coco's in Pismo. It will be a nice way to close the night, in case you've been dancing or something. We might find something to do earlier in the eve, so email ccoastsingles@yahoo.com if you want to be updated. Please also add that email address to your address book so we don't go in your spam folder. We will need a head count on this one, so they know how to set up for us. You can also get all your updates at the yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ccoastsingles

The following weekend we have the FUN DAY TRIP TO SOLVANG. We will start in Santa Maria and carpool down there. It's going to be a blast, visiting the stores, getting fudge, Danish lunch, sweets, check out the antique stores and outlets, and goofing around. You can visit the Motorcycle Museum, the Mission, and maybe even make a short run out to the Chumash Casino if time permits. Then on the way back, we will stop to feed the ostriches. After we get back, we can go get gourmet burgers and stick around for karaoke if you want to. Please RSVP for this one, as well. I need to know how many people will need to carpool. This is FREE, except what you choose to spend along the way. We also suggest you chip in for gas if you carpool.

Then the 4th Friday of this month, we will have our Singles Mingle. The last one was in Pismo with over 20 singles, and this one will be in Atascadero. Come meet the other singles. You can carpool up to this one, as well. It's all about expanding horizons and meeting people you otherwise would not be able to meet. We have a good group of people, so you'll want to meet them all. For this one, I have to give them a head count before we go, so I do need you to RSVP.

There are a couple other things I'm not including right now because they are still "in the works" but I hope you show up at some or all of these. Most important is the Valentine's Dance. Wait, the Solvang trip will be fun, and the singles mingle will be a hoot. I can't decide, so show up at all of them lol. I hope to see you there. Please RSVP now, before you forget, so I can send you reminders :-) Also, if I don't already have your regular email address, please give it to me so I can send you the evite invitations. Then check your Spam folder or Bulk Mail folder for it, if you don't get one by next Tuesday.

Remember, I make these events happen for _YOU_ so if you don't show up at anything, I won't make so much happen. The more you show up for, the more I make happen :-) Please show your interest by getting out and going to some of these events. If you're nervous or unsure, email me and we'll chat about it and see what we can do.

Dating Success Secret Revealed - Discovering the Keys to Dating Success is Easier Than You Think

By Bj Moorer

So it is approaching Valentine's Day and you are single. Do you dread Valentine's Day and other holidays? You want to start dating but the keys to the dating game seem out of your reach. If these questions have been swirling around your head and causing you pain and misery, listen up. There is a key to unlock your dating life and propel it to new heights. Dating success can be yours so let the fun begin.

First there are a few things you should avoid at all costs. If you avoid these few things, you will greatly improve your chances of have more great dates:

  • Don't listen to all that hoopla on TV or watch commercials that show beautiful people so much in love they just seem to ache with passion. All the commercial is doing is selling you on buying diamonds or some other gift. The "lovers" are actors. The overall media message is that we should be rail thin or devastatingly handsome to be successful in love. "Regular" people like you and I meet new people and fall in love everyday of the week.
  • Stay clear of unhappy friends or acquaintance that talk negative. If you listen to negative dribble often, you will begin to believe it. If you have friends who are always talking about how hard it is to find a good woman or a good man - avoid them like the plague. No negative input from anybody anywhere!
  • Listen carefully to your own self-talk. What kind of conversation are you having inside your own head? Do you call yourself ugly or unattractive? Do you belittle yourself for every mistake you make? Do you feel you are too old, or too fat or too unattractive for anyone to be interested in? Stop that kind of inner talk right NOW!!! Not another word of it.

The key to achieving Dating Success is simply changing your attitude about yourself.

  • Very often we are our biggest critics. If you find yourself criticizing you for your height, weight, age, social standing (or lack of social standing), being too shy, being skinny, being ugly or anything else, stop yourself. Make a decision to catch yourself and make changes. It will take time to weed out negative thought patterns but you can do it.

What shall I do instead?

  1. Understand first and foremost you cannot afford the luxury of a negative thought.
  2. Find inspiring stories of people who triumphed over obstacles to win in life.
  3. Associate with positive people.
  4. Hold your head up and improve your posture.
  5. Stop dragging around like you are on your last leg
  6. Carry yourself like Mr. or Ms. Wonderful is right around the corner because they just maybe closer than you think.
  7. Raise your expectation
  8. Work on becoming what you want to attract.

If you will begin to change your attitude, you will be amazed at how your social life will improve. So let's review shall we? All the good men or good women are NOT gone! Banish that thought from your mind. You get up and get busy. Go out and meet new people. Try smiling for a change, talk to others and just be friendly and approachable.

Dating success is yours!

I need your help Sunday Feb 3

Hi, I need a big favor from everyone. It has to do with getting the word out and getting more people involved in our group. This is a big time promotional opportunity. I need to see how many people I can get together for a photo op for the Trib. We would have a pic in the Tribune, AND be on the Tribune website!

If we can get together in Arroyo Grande or SLO, I can get the photographer to come shoot us for the paper and interview people for the site. She was going to do it at the Grad, but the fight messed that up. She needs this before Wednesday, so it would be nice to get 20+ people together at a restaurant or someplace to get a shot of everyone Sunday evening. How about an "after Superbowl dinner"? It could be a celebration for the winning team's fans, and for people who hate football and are glad it's over lol.

I think it would be cool to go to Sizzler, Round Table, or the brand new Applebee's in Arroyo Grande or Mother's Tavern in SLO. Mother's has the upstairs part, if it is available, and they play swing music in the afternoon with swing dancing ~ if they're not showing the game. We could set it for 6 or 7 pm (I think the band stops about 4pm), have a nice dinner, and talk about what we did or didn't like about the game lol.

I think if we go to Round Table, we could just order a few pizzas together, a few pitchers of drinks, and be good. They may let us in their private room, if it's available. I don't know if the Applebee's is big enough for us, but Sizzler has lots of tables and a buffet >:-O Gotta love those multiple trips lol.

It's important to have plenty of people for this picture. Monday and Tuesday I have class, but if I have to take one night off, it would have to be Monday night. I could possibly skip out a bit early to make it by 730 to AG. I would prefer Sunday, when everyone would probably be available earlier.

Would you be able to make it, and if so, which place would you prefer? This really means a lot to all of us, and I hope enough people can make it. It would be a great opportunity to chat again, and maybe get more comfortable with others before the big pre-Valentine's dance (I hope you're telling your friends and co-workers about the dance ~ send them all emails!). Thanks, and I hope to see you Sunday night. Please let me know either way.

Local Info

You can find out about local events by visiting the website of any TV station or newspaper, and clicking on local events. If you find anything that sounds interesting, share it with us, and we'll see how many people want to go. It is always good to have at least 2 to 3 weeks advance notice. It is YOU that keeps this group going, so help find things you would love to do!

Things to Note

Please Note: Please help us get the word out about our dance. If you can put a poster up at work, contact me for a link to it. We would like to get as many singles out there as possible.

Please email and call all your friends to let them know. Let's get this event to have over 100 singles!

Also, don't forget to help us out Sunday night, Feb 3 (the date you are receiving this newsletter). See the story here for details. Thanks!
