Saturday
7:30 or 9:00 PM
$5.00

Big Chill at the Grad! Be sure to meet at our table on the right as you come in the door. Watch for the little sign on the table! You can find my pic on this website, or in the pic section of our MySpace page. Dancing starts at 9:00 if you want to pay cover charge and come in. Otherwise, get there for dinner before 8:15, and you won't have to pay cover charge! I will be there about 7:30 to get my Gradburger or Chicken and fries, or baked potato. I haven't decided yet! I will also hold a table, so be sure to for this event so I know how many tables to hold! Be aware that the later you get there, the harder it is to find parking. You could end up parking in the Goodwill lot or on the street a block away if you get there late! Also contact me about possible carpools from Santa Maria or Paso. No guarantees, but I can put people in contact with each other from the RSVPs.

SLO DOWNTOWN FARMER'S MARKET
May 8
Thursday
5:30 PM
FREE

You are probably aware that every Thursday night downtown SLO closes off Higuera St. for the weekly Farmer's Market. It is a combination of farm fresh produce, BBQ and prepared foods from various restaurants, vendors, information booths, and entertainment. This is done EVERY week and there is usually some interesting entertainment down there. You might hear Barbershop, rock, jazz, see dancing, acrobatics, shows, or just about anything you can imagine. There is sometimes a steel drum band or DJ. You don't know what you'll find there, but we are going to see on May 8!

Planned events include Claddagh School of Irish Dance/World Rhythm demonstration, House Red Band playing at Broad St., Cuesta Voice, and Mother's Day Flower giveaway & Cerebral Palsy Ability Fair. If we get a good turnout, this can be a regular thing, including weeks when they have the main stage out. They often bring some great entertainment, and we can dance in the street :-)

If you have never been there, I need to clue you in on parking and traffic. We will meet by Jamba Juice and California Pizza Kitchen at 5:30. I will be there just a bit early to be sure everyone gets found. Look for me. I will have some sort of stickers or buttons for us to wear to identify each other as we are walking around. Ladies, you can stop guys at the market and ask if they are single. If they are, encourage them to join us for events lol. I recommend parking in the parking structures, but I'll give you directions. You are responsible for your route and choice of parking place, and I will not be responsible for any accidents, tickets, or towing.

From the north, you can take the Broad St. exit and loop to your right to get downtown (make the first right on Lincoln, then right on Chorro to go under the bridge to the first traffic light). Once you get to Palm St (the traffic light) turn left. The parking structures are on the left and down the street on the right. There are parking lots there, also. Remember that meters still run til 6 pm, so you will have to put coins in for an hour time if you get there around 5 pm. The parking structures charge after 40 minutes, so you will have to pay on the way out if you park in one of them. The one on the right has an elevator on each end. You can also take the Marsh Street directions below.

Marsh Street Exit takes you directly to downtown, no matter which direction you come from. Head along Marsh St., and once you pass Foster Freeze, you can start watching for parking. Some people park in the Wells Fargo and Washington Mutual parking lots, but I won't suggest it in case they start towing. If you find a spot along the street, or in the parking lot near the corner of Broad St. (across from Cellular One), you will have to pay meters until 6 pm. The big parking structure will be on your right after you pass Chorro. Even if the sign says full, you can usually cruise and find a space. There is an elevator at the corner of Marsh/Chorro, and at the back left corner of the annex (L area). You can go in circles, but watch to your left along the northeast wall for a little entrance to the annex area. There are just about as many parking spaces in that area as in the main area, and not everone spots that. The entrance for this annex is on your left, just past the "up ramp" that is on the right for each floor. Just watch both sides and you'll be ok lol. They charge on the way out after 40 minutes so don't lose your ticket.

Alternate Northbound route would be to take the Osos St. exit (Slow WAY DOWN when you come off the freeway cuz there is a bad dip as you cross Walnut) and head straight until Palm St. (just past the bus parking). Turn right on Palm, and you will see a parking structure on your left, then further on are parking lots and the other parking structure on your right.

It is preferred that you RSVP, so please if you want to go, so we can wait a bit to make sure you are there. You can also call me at 602-0051 if you are late.

CCS SPEED DATING EVENT IN SLO!
May 10
Saturday
6:00 PM
$10.00

We just made some modifications to the Speed Date event. To register, go to our application and outline. When you get to the Grange Hall, sign in the book, and come to the end of the hall. You will see the open door and registration desk.

You will come check in for speed dating and FREE appetizers, or to just hang out to watch and mingle. We will probably have other singles hanging out, watching things, and mingling with other singles. You will be assigned a number or letter, and told where to start the process.

The speed dating will go on until everyone has had a chance to rotate. We will take a break or two along the way for you to stretch your legs, get something to drink or eat, and use the restroom. Once that is done, you will return and resume the quest lol. When you have rotated through the line, you will be able to sit and watch the rest of us. You will hand in your form to let us know who you want further contact from, and we will arrange to get that information to them and you that night. If they are receptive to your offer, we will pull you aside to chat some more, or provide contact information to both of you. It depends on how fast we can input everything and get the info.

A man from Los Osos has volunteered to help for a while. He has experience facilitating speed dating events down south, and will do a bit of facilitating for a little while and see your reactions. It is up to you whether you choose to do what he suggests, or just do your own thing.

We will have a period of mingling for everyone after speed dating, as long as you want to hang out. I will also have a list of things going on in the SLO nightlife in case you want to head someplace afterward. Let's have fun!

  • 6:00 PM Check in and start mingling before the event starts.
  • 6:30-7:00 PM Speed Dating starts! (depends how fast people get checked in)

Cost:

  • Speed Dating $10 (includes appetizers & mingling)
  • Mingling FREE

This is a great opportunity, so I hope you will sign up using the link above, or to let me know you will make it to this event just to watch! We may also tape interviews and a few shots of the speed dating for TV, but you can let us know if you really don't want to be on camera.

SLO SUNSET DRIVE-IN SWAP MEET
May 18
Sunday
8:00 AM
$1.00
($2 carload)

If you've never been to this swap meet, it's fun! I will set up a stand out there giving out info on the group and selling some of my junk in the meantime. I know there are a lot of singles that come out there for fun, hobbies, and to pick up stuff for eBay etc. It should be interesting and fun.

I will get there very very early to get in line to get a space. You can show up any time until about 10 am. By then I will start packing things up. If you are hanging around the stand with me (and whoever else shows up) you may meet some new singles. You can also check out all the stuff there. I usually set up on the front (screen) side of the snack bar. I get tamales from a vendor that sets up on the corner :-{)

If you've never been to the Swap Meet in SLO it's a good place to get some bargains. It is at the Sunset Drive In on Elk's at the freeway. I suggest parking outside and walking in one of the gates. It is cheaper than paying to park your car inside. It is $1 walk-in or $2 carload (meet outside?). This will be something fun to bring friends with you. I will get there by about 5:30 to get a space and get set up.

If you want to shop, it is best to get there as early as possible before all the real good bargains are gone. That's when dealers go around and buy up the cheap stuff. Of course, there will still be cool stuff later, so if you don't get going til about 8, that works, too. That is when it is most crowded and parking is harder, tho. I think it will be cool to have everyone there. I'll try to remember to bring some chairs but bring your own sunscreen :-)

If you want to be sure I have a chair for you, contact me before Sunday. Also, you can bring in your own comfy lawn chair if you wish. If they ask about it, tell them you are joining a friend that is selling. They won't care as long as you are paying to get in lol.

From the north, take the Madonna Road exit, and turn right to cross the freeway. When you come to the light at Higuera, turn right. As you are passing the cemetary, watch for Elk's on your right, at the end of the car dealership. Turn right, and follow it until you see all the cars parked.

From the south take the Elks Lane exit, and you can't miss it right in front of you.

It is preferred to RSVP so I can bring a chair for you, so please if you want to go, so I will have something for you to sit on. Otherwise, bring a chair yourself. You can also call me at 602-0051 if you are late, and to find out exactly where I am.

SLO BBQ AND GAME NIGHT
May 18
Sunday
3:00 PM
FREE

I am also going to do a BBQ and game night again. I won a board game, 'Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?'. Of course, if you want to play Apples to Apples or CSI, we can do that instead. I will do that Sunday eve, so you may want to stay in SLO after Swap Meet if you come in the morning. I will open my home to anyone that wants to hang out at whatever time they want to come to rest or check their email, etc..

My place is small, but we will BBQ also. Of course, if you want to have McD or CJ or TB before you come, that's fine too. I'll cook up a pot of beans (bring your Beano!) and make my mac salad the day before, so they'll be ready for Sunday.

It is free to attend and play, but be sure to bring something to throw on the fire so you have something to eat. We can start about 3pm, bbq about 430ish, and have games going by 6. PLEASE RSVP for the game night so I can set up the tables.

I will also invite the Game Night SLO Yahoo Group to come play games if we have empty seats. They will be invited to come at 6, although they may not be single. I am doing this because last time some people didn't show up, and I want to have as many people as possible to play. I can have up to 15 people here, so if you RSVP and we get 15 singles before the game night group signs up for it, then we will have only singles.

I will give priority to guys until we have 7 of them, as I hope to balance the group. The first 8 women to RSVP will most likely get seats, so don't hold back. If we don't have 8 guys, I will fill the empty seats with women, then the game night group, in that order.

It is NOT optional to RSVP, so please if you want to come, so I can get the address and directions to you. Please also call me at 602-0051 if you are late getting here, as I may start calling people to fill chairs.

INDIANA JONES SERIES
May 19
Monday
May20
Tuesday
May 21
Wednesday

6:00 PM
FREE!

The Fremont has Indiana Jones starting this week. This is our chance to get up to speed with 3 nights of watching the original Indiana Jones movie series. We will watch it at my place, or new location to be announced. I have a good sound system, but a mid size TV. Unless someone wants to give me a bigger TV, this will have to do lol. I'll provide popcorn, you bring drinks.

Instead of starting off with Raiders, we will start off with Temple of Doom since that was actually the prequel of the series. Temple will be shown on Monday. Raiders of the Lost Ark will be on Tuesday night, and The Last Crusade will be on Wednesday night. This is set up so you can watch the movie and get home at a decent time.

Yes, you must RSVP, so please if you want to come, so I can make sure I have enough seats. We are limiting seating to 10 people. Consider this movies with a few friends. Please also call me at 602-0051 if you are late getting here, so I can hold the movie for a few minutes. If we do it someplace else, people can meet at my place, and we can all go in my van together.

Any suggestions for Indiana Jones theme snacks or stuff? Bring something interesting if you have time. Otherwise, just bring yourself :-) This is a good time to bring a single friend, without the major activity and confusion.

MAY SINGLES MINGLE
May 23
Friday
6:30 PM
FREE

This is our monthly meeting to get together, meet each other, chat, and have input for what kind of events and activities to plan. We will discuss all that I have planned so far, and you will tell me what you want to do! Bowling, dining, BBQ in the park, bonfire, movies, or whatever you want to do. We will meet and mingle, and have introductions. You can talk over dinner, and even plan to get together again another time, or go someplace after the mingle! Let's get a group of us to go out someplace for dancing or whatever else is going on when we are done!

This month's mingle is going to be held at Coco's in Pismo Beach. We rotate areas and locations for our mingles each month, so you can come to more than one and meet different people.

This event is FREE to attend, if you want to come sip a glass of water and chat, or you can buy your drink or dinner and join us for eats. It is all up to you. btw, don't just pop your head in the door, look around, and leave. I have heard from people that they have done that and didn't think it was big enough. Many people come late, so you won't really know what is going on until about 7:00 pm. If you only want to poke your head in and leave, do it after 7!

Please you will be there, so I can plan it.

INDIANA JONES AND KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL
May 24
Saturday
3:00 PM
$8 +/-

The Fremont has a huge screen and a great sound system, not to mention the art deco interior they restored with neat lighting and colors. You remember the Indiana Jones movies. The long awaited sequel is back, and Indiana is back to his old tricks. Old? Yes he is lol.

We are going to meet for the last matinee, so it will probably be about 3 pm. We are doing it Saturday because it will be way too crowded on Thursday, and we have the Mingle on Friday. That will also give us a chance to get more people from the mingle interested in going.

I list the price at about $8 because I do not know how much they charge for special movie matinees. Don't count on a discount.

Notice that for the week prior, we are seeing movies each night of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Locations will be announced when we know. Otherwise assume it is at my place.

It is NOT optional to RSVP, so please if you want to come, so we can know who to wait for and how many seats to hold. Please also call me at 602-0051 if you are late getting there, before I turn off my phone at the previews.

CAFE VIO SPEED DATING EVENT
May 24
Saturday
7:00 PM
$10

On the 4th Saturday each month, Cafe Vio is going to have a speed dating event. The owners have decided to continue speed dating every month because we have supported it, and they appreciate our attendance. We will carpool if you wish, or you can just meet us there. It has been fun each time, so I am looking forward to it again.

Each month there is wine tasting by a different winery, and your entry fee includes a drink. There will be food and drink available, as well. They have a cozy little place with couches and chairs, and it makes it a fun atmosphere. We even get to chat during breaks, and before/after the event.

After speed dating, we will explore the club scene in Paso. We will visit someplace like Level 4, or one of the other places with dancing. Let's go out and have some fun in North County! If you are from SM or 5 Cities area, you can meet us in SLO to carpool.

It is optional to RSVP, unless you need to carpool. If you do not RSVP for carpooling, there may not be room for you. Please if you want to come, so we can know who to hold a seat for, and when we can leave. Please also call me at 602-0051 if you are running late, before I head up the hill.
