FREE WEST COAST SWING DANCE LESSONS ~ No April Fools!

John Wheaton has agreed to give us FREE lessons for West Coast Swing dancing. This is a great dance style that allows you to look good dancing to whatever music you are dancing to. A few well executed turns and spins, and you'll look like you really know how to dance. John does a great job of teaching, and everyone loved the last lessons he taught us. The manager of the Maverick is extending Happy Hour Pricing to us! They only ask that for the free lessons we order a drink or food, but you're going to work up a sweat anyway! Here is how it goes:

  • 6:00 PM We meet and chat over dinner. Chicken, burgers, salads, or whatever you want to order. I hear the burgers are really good.
  • 7:00 PM Basic West Coast Swing lesson
  • 8:00 PM Beyond Basic West Coast Swing lesson
  • 9:00 PM Free dance time to practice with other students

This is a great opportunity, so I hope you will to let me know you will make it to this event! Be aware that the later you get there, the harder it is to find parking. You could end up parking on the street a block away if you get there late! Also contact me about possible carpools from SLO or Paso. SLO DOWNTOWN FARMER'S MARKET

You are probably aware that every Thursday night downtown SLO closes off Higuera St. for the weekly Farmer's Market. It is a combination of farm fresh produce, BBQ and prepared foods from various restaurants, vendors, information booths, and entertainment. This is done EVERY week and there is usually some interesting entertainment down there. You might hear Barbershop, rock, jazz, see dancing, acrobatics, shows, or just about anything you can imagine. There is sometimes a steel drum band or DJ. You don't know what you'll find there, but we are going to see on April 10!

There is nothing special planned, but if this goes well, we can do this again May 1 when they have the Main Stage entertainment! They usually bring in someone like Monte Mills or other well known band for that event, and we can even dance there if you are brave enough lol.

If you have never been there, I need to clue you in on parking and traffic. We will meet by Jamba Juice and California Pizza Kitchen at 5:30. I will be there just a bit early to be sure everyone gets found. Look for me. I will have some sort of stickers for us to wear to identify each other as we are walking around. Ladies, you can stop guys at the market and ask if they are single. If they are, encourage them to join us for events lol. I recommend parking in the parking structures, but I'll give you directions. You are responsible for your route and choice of parking place, and I will not be responsible for any accidents, tickets, or towing.

From the north, you can take the Broad St. exit and loop to your right to get downtown (make the first right on Lincoln, then right on Chorro to go under the bridge to the first traffic light). Once you get to Palm St (the traffic light) turn left. The parking structures are on the left and down the street on the right. There are parking lots there, also. Remember that meters still run til 6 pm, so you will have to put coins in for an hour time if you get there around 5 pm. The parking structures charge after 40 minutes, so you will have to pay on the way out if you park in one of them. The one on the right has an elevator on each end. You can also take the Marsh Street directions below.

Marsh Street Exit takes you directly to downtown, no matter which direction you come from. Head along Marsh St., and once you pass Foster Freeze, you can start watching for parking. Some people park in the Wells Fargo and Washington Mutual parking lots, but I won't suggest it in case they start towing. If you find a spot along the street, or in the parking lot near the corner of Broad St. (across from Cellular One), you will have to pay meters until 6 pm. The big parking structure will be on your right after you pass Chorro. Even if the sign says full, you can usually cruise and find a space. There is an elevator at the corner of Marsh/Chorro, and at the back left corner of the annex (L area). You can go in circles, but watch to your left along the northeast wall for a little entrance to the annex area. There are just about as many parking spaces in that area as in the main area, and not everone spots that. The entrance for this annex is on your left, just past the "up ramp" that is on the right for each floor. Just watch both sides and you'll be ok lol. They charge on the way out after 40 minutes so don't lose your ticket.

Alternate Northbound route would be to take the Osos St. exit (Slow WAY DOWN when you come off the freeway cuz there is a bad dip as you cross Walnut) and head straight until Palm St. (just past the bus parking). Turn right on Palm, and you will see a parking structure on your left, then further on are parking lots and the other parking structure on your right.

It is not necessary to RSVP, but please if you want us to wait a bit to make sure you are there. You can also call me at 602-0051 if you are late.

Higuera St. between Osos and Broad

ATASCADERO PIZZA PARTY

Atascadero had such a great turnout for the Singles Mingle in February, I decided to have a Pizza Party this month! We will meet at Central Coast Pizza in the Von's shopping center on El Camino Real at Hwy 41, to meet and have some fun chatting. It is not a regular meeting, so it will be just to get together. Have fun moving around and meeting people. We will have our tables in a semi private room, but you can move around if you wish. Come have some quality time with other singles.

Since we need to know what kind of seating we require, please so I will know you will be there.

SINGLES POTLUCK AND FREE DANCE LESSON!

Dawn at the Dance Pavilion is offering to do a MONTHLY singles event, so let's support her efforts by showing up and having fun! Bring a dish to share, and wear your dancing shoes. We get a "mini" lesson, which didn't seem "mini" to me last time! We learned two line dances last time, including the Black Velvet. It was fun, and I suggest you do it with us.

Since we need to know what kind of seating we require, please so I will know you will be there. I need to give Dawn a number so she knows how many to expect.

GAME NIGHT BBQ AT GERALD'S!

We are having a BBQ and game night at my place. I can only handle about 15 people here, so please RSVP only if you intend to come. I will have the BBQ going by 5:00 so you can Q some meat to eat for yourself as soon as you get here. Please bring a dish to share. I will probably keep the fire going until about 6:15 to give late comers a chance to Q, I will have some soda and punch, but will likely run out so BYOB. We will play something like Apples to Apples, Clue, Win Lose or Draw, or some video based game. I also have a Texas Holdum kit but need enough chips. If you have 'em and want cards, bring chips. It's going to be loads of fun so don't miss out. You can stay as late as you want, but I plan on cutting things down by about 9:30. If things are going good, people who don't have anything Monday morning can stay til midnight. I'm open to just about anything that makes people happy ;-)

For those people who have limited internet access, I will make a computer available for you to be able to take care of business. We can also upload your pic if you want me to take one of you. I try to do this for everyone whenever I can, but this is a perfect opportunity for people who may otherwise not get to put their pic on their profile due to limited access, or library computers etc.

Since I can only have a certan number of people for the space I have, please you are coming so I can select people to come. Selection will be by gender mix, people who RSVP early, and people who actively participate. This last one is partially because I want to be sure I don't have too many total strangers here. I don't need to have someone case my joint like I have anything valuable lol.

Location: My Place
Address TBA after RSVP selections

APRIL SINGLES MINGLE

Meeting to get together, meet each other, chat, and have input for what kind of events and activities to plan. We will discuss all that I have planned so far, and you will tell me what you want to do! Bowling, dining, BBQ in the park, bonfire, movies, or whatever you want to do. We will have fun this month at my favorite Mexican Food Restaurant. This place is really awesome. You get in line and tell them what you want, and you watch them put it together or cook it! It's very flavorful and quality. I've even seen the owner's mother there making flan! We will meet on the patio, where they have heaters if we need it. It is closed off from the restaurant, so we can talk freely. It holds up to 60 people, so let's see how many we can get together!

Please you will be there, so I can plan it.
