Below is a list of events we plan to have. If you want more of a list, you must join Central Coast Singles to get access to the Members Section where more events are listed. You will see "Member Event" listed on the calendar, which means it is something only shown in the Member Section. You can also go to our Central Coast Singles Yahoo group and ask for more events. That is where we discuss new and upcoming events, and you can contribute to the discussion. Of course, all plans and dates are subject to change, and you should check in often for the latest.
When you check here, we will give you details and contact info. Otherwise, wait for the info in the Yahoo! Group, where you will get more complete information. In other words, go sign up for the group if you are serious about attending our events! You may also want to sign up for our monthly newsletter by using the box on your left. You can also sign up below for updates on this site when things are added or changed.
Future and past events may include fun stuff like:

to let me know your preferences. By hearing from you, I can plan events that you will want to go to. Let me hear from you. Today's date:
This calendar shows our events, as well as events submitted by other singles and singles groups.
CCS events are shown in yellow, important notes and deadlines are shown in red, events from other groups or clubs are in light blue, events for individual singles are lavender, and events in general that I think are of general interest are orange. These events may be of interest to singles (single parent or family events, issues affecting singles in some way, fairs and special events, etc.), or events I plan to attend myself.
To submit an event, see notes below the calendar.
| CCS EVENTS | IMPORTANT/DEADLINES | OTHER GROUPS | INDIVIDUALS | GEN INTEREST |
To submit an event, send ALL information to for submission. Include title of event, date, time, location, how long it will last, contact info, and description. We are not responsible for misinformation, and will only post the information you send us. Please be sure it is complete. If you are an individual single and want to post an event, indicate contact information, and where to meet you for the event. This is not a general events calendar.
If you are a group leader, you can submit more than one event at a time. If you are a single or member of CCS, you must provide specific information for attendance. We will not post an event just to show it is happening. We can only list the event you are attending, so you can have others attend with you. We are not responsible for anything that results from your posting. Thank you.
CCS Events Scheduled for June 2008
John Wheaton will be giving us the first two beginner lessons absolutely FREE! If you missed it the first time, this is your chance to check it out again. It will be a good chance to get out and learn something brand new. Be there early to register, and eat. I will be there before 6 to have some grub.
The lessons don't cost anything. Just buy a drink or your dinner or something to let them know you appreciate them doing this for us. We will likely do a speed dating event there some time, too, so we want them to love us :-) Let's make this a great event, and have a lot of fun.
There were about 40 singles for salsa last time, so I am looking forward to a great turnout this time! This is going to be just 3 days after the swing dance in SLO, and 4 days before the Big Chill. You guys are so lucky lol. Let's make this work, so they know how much we love what they are doing for us.
PLEASE RSVP, but if you don't know until the night of the event, just show up. If you RSVP, I can let them know how many to set up for, and we might be able to get a discount on food (not a promise, but if we get a LOT of people to show up, we might be able to arrange something). Let me know if you will show up by 6pm for dinner, or 7 pm for lessons. There will be two beginning lessons, like last time. Let's go have some fun! Be sure to for this event so I can have an idea what to expect for numbers. You can also let me know if you want to arrange a carpool.

You are probably aware that every Thursday night downtown SLO closes off Higuera St. for the weekly Farmer's Market. It is a combination of farm fresh produce, BBQ and prepared foods from various restaurants, vendors, information booths, and entertainment. This is done EVERY week and there is usually some interesting entertainment down there. You might hear Barbershop, rock, jazz, see dancing, acrobatics, shows, or just about anything you can imagine. There is sometimes a steel drum band or DJ. You don't know what you'll find there, but we are going to see on May 8!
Planned events include Claddagh School of Irish Dance/World Rhythm demonstration, House Red Band playing at Broad St., Cuesta Voice, and Mother's Day Flower giveaway & Cerebral Palsy Ability Fair. If we get a good turnout, this can be a regular thing, including weeks when they have the main stage out. They often bring some great entertainment, and we can dance in the street :-)
If you have never been there, I need to clue you in on parking and traffic. We will meet by Jamba Juice and California Pizza Kitchen at 5:30. I will be there just a bit early to be sure everyone gets found. Look for me. I will have some sort of stickers or buttons for us to wear to identify each other as we are walking around. Ladies, you can stop guys at the market and ask if they are single. If they are, encourage them to join us for events lol. I recommend parking in the parking structures, but I'll give you directions. You are responsible for your route and choice of parking place, and I will not be responsible for any accidents, tickets, or towing.
From the north, you can take the Broad St. exit and loop to your right to get downtown (make the first right on Lincoln, then right on Chorro to go under the bridge to the first traffic light). Once you get to Palm St (the traffic light) turn left. The parking structures are on the left and down the street on the right. There are parking lots there, also. Remember that meters still run til 6 pm, so you will have to put coins in for an hour time if you get there around 5 pm. The parking structures charge after 40 minutes, so you will have to pay on the way out if you park in one of them. The one on the right has an elevator on each end. You can also take the Marsh Street directions below.
Marsh Street Exit takes you directly to downtown, no matter which direction you come from. Head along Marsh St., and once you pass Foster Freeze, you can start watching for parking. Some people park in the Wells Fargo and Washington Mutual parking lots, but I won't suggest it in case they start towing. If you find a spot along the street, or in the parking lot near the corner of Broad St. (across from Cellular One), you will have to pay meters until 6 pm. The big parking structure will be on your right after you pass Chorro. Even if the sign says full, you can usually cruise and find a space. There is an elevator at the corner of Marsh/Chorro, and at the back left corner of the annex (L area). You can go in circles, but watch to your left along the northeast wall for a little entrance to the annex area. There are just about as many parking spaces in that area as in the main area, and not everone spots that. The entrance for this annex is on your left, just past the "up ramp" that is on the right for each floor. Just watch both sides and you'll be ok lol. They charge on the way out after 40 minutes so don't lose your ticket.
Alternate Northbound route would be to take the Osos St. exit (Slow WAY DOWN when you come off the freeway cuz there is a bad dip as you cross Walnut) and head straight until Palm St. (just past the bus parking). Turn right on Palm, and you will see a parking structure on your left, then further on are parking lots and the other parking structure on your right.
It is preferred that you RSVP, so please if you want to go, so we can wait a bit to make sure you are there. You can also call me at 602-0051 if you are late.

Big Chill at the Grad! Be sure to meet at our table on the right as you come in the door. Watch for the little sign on the table! You can find my pic on this website, or in the pic section of our MySpace page. Dancing starts at 9:00 if you want to pay cover charge and come in. Otherwise, get there for dinner before 8:15, and you won't have to pay cover charge! I will be there about 7:30 to get my Gradburger or Chicken and fries, or baked potato. I haven't decided yet! I will also hold a table, so be sure to for this event so I know how many tables to hold! Be aware that the later you get there, the harder it is to find parking. You could end up parking in the Goodwill lot or on the street a block away if you get there late! Also contact me about possible carpools from Santa Maria or Paso. No guarantees, but I can put people in contact with each other from the RSVPs.

Last week we had so much fun! Kathleen and Nina helped pass out flyers, and the guys were real happy to take them from a couple of good looking women. More men took them from the girls, than took any from me last month! That's the way to do it! Hooray Nina and Kathleen! Who is brave enough to go for it this time?

Last week was great again! Roma went with me, and every time a guy doubted me, I got Roma to talk to him! Roma was such a good sport, and seemed to enjoy trying to pick out guys. I think she was a bit too picky though. We're not going to find Mr. Right on our first shopping trip lol. Who is brave enough to go for it this time?

The Pismo Car Show is this weekend, and we are going to check out Cruise Night! If you want to get there earlier to see the cars, I will be there by 4 pm walking around. Either RSVP below or call me 602-0051 to arrange a time and place to meet. If you just want to come to the cruise night and music, I will be at the top of Pomeroy at 6 pm to meet you and watch the start of cruising. Cars from all over and local cruise, and it is fun to watch. With the price of gas, this may be one of the last times you will see this.
You may want to bring a chair if you are only going to watch the cruising. By about 6:30 we will probably start walking down to the parking lot area where the Hydramatics will be playing free. We can dance, listen, sing along, or whatever you want, as late as you want. From there, we can decide if we want to stick around, or go dance someplace else if it is too crowded. What about parking? Here's a deal.
If you RSVP, I will give you some good tips on finding parking for this event :-) Is that sneaky? Please if you want to come, and I will tell you where I usually have good luck finding parking. Don't forget that you can also call me at 602-0051 if you are late getting here, so we can watch for you before we head down the hill.

Our SLO Drive in is a first run movie theater, so whatever is out and popular will be showing. I thought it would be fun for us to go and sit out and watch a movie. We can take chairs and blankets, and have fun. I have a van, so let's carpool and go in at the same time. I'll take the van seats out and we can use those to sit on, as well as lawn chairs. That way we can get a bunch of us under one blanket lol. Hey, I give off a lot of heat, so someone will want to sit next to me if it's cold lol.
The movie doesn't start til 8:30, so we should meet at my place to eat something and arrange carpools. We can order pizza, and take leftovers to the movie with us lol. We can all pitch in and get the pizza if we are ready by 6:30. This ought to be loads of fun. If you don't want to join us for pizza, you can just meet us at the drive-in. Look for my green van with a bunch of crazy singles hanging around and hooting lol. We will probably be between the snack bar and the screen so we have a good view and don't block other people.
How long has it been since you've been to a drive in? How about with friends? We won't cheat the drive in, but if you want to sneak in, in someone's trunk, I am sure we can pitch in and pay for you. It will be worth it just to see you get in and out of a trunk lol.
I would like to get a count, so I know how many to wait for. Please RSVP so I can bring a chair for you if you don't have one, so please if you want to go. That is also the way to get directions to my home.

People have been asking about game nights again, and want one on a weeknight. Since noplace else is currently available, I will have it at my place again. I am doing it on a weeknight to be sure everyone is happy and able to get to fun events. This night is between the movie and mingle, so this is going to be a busy week.
We have choices of games to play. We could make a Taco Bell run if everyone wants to pitch in, or we can order pizza again, or bring your own food. I would make this a pot luck, but I'm not sure if that will work well on a week night. If enough people express an interest in it being a pot luck, then we will do it that way. I can cook something here and have it ready when you get here with your stuff.
Please RSVP and let me know which way you want to go with it. If you what you want, I will set it up that way. I have plates and utensils available. You must also RSVP to get the address and directions. 602-0051 if you get lost lol.

This is our monthly meeting to get together, meet each other, chat, and have input for what kind of events and activities to plan. We will discuss all that I have planned so far, and you will tell me what you want to do! Bowling, dining, BBQ in the park, bonfire, movies, or whatever you want to do. We will meet and mingle, and have introductions. You can talk over dinner, and even plan to get together again another time, or go someplace after the mingle! Let's get a group of us to go out someplace for dancing or whatever else is going on when we are done!
This month's mingle is going to be held at Hoover's in Atascadero. We rotate areas and locations for our mingles each month, so you can come to more than one and meet different people.
This event is FREE to attend, if you want to come sip a glass of water and chat, or you can buy your drink or dinner and join us for eats. It is all up to you. btw, don't just pop your head in the door, look around, and leave. I have heard from people that they have done that and didn't think it was big enough. Many people come late, so you won't really know what is going on until about 7:00 pm. If you only want to poke your head in and leave, do it after 7!
One more thing about Hoover's. We had 40 people in their room last time, and overloaded it. We can only seat 35 in there this time. Be sure to RSVP below to ensure seating. The first 35 to RSVP will get seats for sure. The rest can come in to mingle, but once dinner starts they will have to eat out in the restaurant area. Sorry, but this was so popular last time, that is the way it has to go.
Please you will be there, so I can plan it.

On the 4th Saturday each month, Cafe Vio is going to have a speed dating event. The owners have decided to continue speed dating every month because we have supported it, and they appreciate our attendance. We will carpool if you wish, or you can just meet us there. It has been fun each time, so I am looking forward to it again.
Each month there is wine tasting by a different winery, and this time it is wine tasting by Vihuela Winery. our entry fee includes a drink. There will be food and drink available, as well. They have a cozy little place with couches and chairs, and it makes it a fun atmosphere. We even get to chat during breaks, and before/after the event.
After speed dating, we will explore the club scene in Paso. We will visit someplace like Level 4, or one of the other places with dancing. Let's go out and have some fun in North County! If you are from SM or 5 Cities area, you can meet us in SLO to carpool.
What would you like to do before the speed dating?
It is optional to RSVP, unless you need to carpool. If you do not RSVP for carpooling, there may not
be room for you. Please if you want to come, so we can know who to hold a seat for, and when we can leave. Please also call me at
602-0051 if you are running late, before I head up the hill.

NOTICE: To attend the BBQ portion of this event, you MUST have attended a previous event with this group. This is to protect the privacy of the host. Otherwise, we would love to have you join us at the fireworks display at the fairgrounds. We will be along the road that runs in front of the fairgrounds entrance. We will likely have some chairs along the sidewalk or just inside the parking lot fence line.
Fireworks and singles, should there be such a thing? It might be dangerous. Not only can we see the fireworks display, but it is also legal in the city limits of Santa Maria to use your own legal fireworks! Stop by a fireworks stand and get a few to fire off while we are BBQing our ears off. Try not to get the messy ones, though.
The BBQ starts early in the day, and will include games, chat, mingling, music, karaoke, and dancing. Hey, that's a LOT of celebration! Let's make the most of this holiday and have loads of fun. You can bring something for the grill, or you can pitch in $5 for tri-tip or $3 for chicken. Both will be available, and we can always run down to the market for more. Be sure to bring something to share with everyone. Impress us with your cooking or style ~ or just get a big pot of potato salad at Albertsons lol.
By 7:30 we will be getting ready to carpool over to the fireworks. You can drive yourself if you want to leave right afterward, but we may have a surprise afterward, or more games, dancing, and karaoke. I am still working on something cool for us. If you've been to our events, you know I do my best to get something special for everyone.
Please so I can let the host know how many people to be ready for. We may need to set up a second BBQ if we get a LOT of people, so please inform us. You will get the location and directions when you RSVP and are confirmed as a member in good attendance of events. We just want to know who is coming, and not have a lot of strangers in their home.

The SLO Rattlers are willing to give us a presale discount to come to their game and see the awesome fireworks show, even if we buy tickets at the gate. We are going to have a potluck BBQ at 4 pm, and head to the game at 6:30. The game starts at 7:05 pm so we want to get our seats early. It gets hard to find parking if you wait too late, too.
The fireworks are going to be fantastic. Not only that, but they are going to sell raffle tickets for
the opportunity to push the plunger to start the fireworks. That would be great! Here is what they expect to have:
PYROTECHNIC DEVICES
Souza Dazzlers Custom Multishot Device..............20 Shots
Souza Dazzlers Custom Multishot Device............286 Shots
Souza Gold Line - Multishot Device.....................449 Shots
Sousa Diamond Line - Multishot Device...............537 Shots
1.75" Red Comets................................................3 Shots
Total of Pyrotechnic Devices.......................1,295 Shots!
Details are here
Bring something to throw on the BBQ, and something to share. You will have good company. The last time we went to a game, we came back to my place for coffee and cake, and had a great time talking and laughing. Don't miss out this time! btw, if you are having trouble seeing anything on the Rattler's site, scroll down. It is messed up for some reason, and everything is at the bottom.
Bring a jacket or blanket to keep warm, and a lawn chair or blanket to sit on in case we sit on the grass again. We had a blast last time!
You must RSVP to get the location for the BBQ, so please if you want to come, so I can get the address and directions to you. I will also need to know how many chairs need to be ready. Please also call me at 602-0051 if you are late getting here.

Thursday July 10 ~ Little Anthony & the Imperials (I saw them at Mid State
Fair, great show)
Friday July 10 ~ CHUBBY CHECKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saturday July 11 ~ Craig Morgan (Yes, I'll go see a country
singer. Be there for this momentus event lol)

If enough people want to go to the Destruction Derby, I'll go for
the $10 general admission tickets. Here is the lineup with pictures, and here are samples of their music.
All entertainment is in the evening, but I don't remember what time. I believe it was about 7 pm last time I went and saw Uncle Kracker. I will actually be there by 5:00 pm, or earlier if you want to meet me there. Let's go!
Here is some of the stuff you can see at this year's fair, with the info they provide:

You will have the opportunity to experience animals rarely seen in captivity, including an Asian Fishing Cat and also two magnificent Bengal Tigers that will make their appearance and demonstrate their natural grace and beauty!
If you want to meet there, please so we can coordinate our times. Otherwise, you can also call me at 602-0051 to find out exactly where I am when you get there.

By now you should be aware that every Thursday night downtown SLO closes off Higuera St. for the weekly Farmer's Market. If you've never been to this swap meet, it's fun! I will set up a stand out there giving out info on the group and selling some of my junk in the meantime. I know there are a lot of singles that come out there for fun, hobbies, and to pick up stuff for eBay etc. It should be interesting and fun.
I will get there very very early to get in line to get a space. You can show up any time until about 10 am. By then I will start packing things up. If you are hanging around the stand with me (and whoever else shows up) you may meet some new singles. You can also check out all the stuff there. I usually set up on the front (screen) side of the snack bar. I get tamales from a vendor that sets up on the corner :-{)
If you've never been to the Swap Meet in SLO it's a good place to get some bargains. It is at the Sunset Drive In on Elk's at the freeway. I suggest parking outside and walking in one of the gates. It is cheaper than paying to park your car inside. It is $1 walk-in or $2 carload (meet outside?). This will be something fun to bring friends with you. I will get there by about 5:30 to get a space and get set up.
If you want to shop, it is best to get there as early as possible before all the real good bargains are gone. That's when dealers go around and buy up the cheap stuff. Of course, there will still be cool stuff later, so if you don't get going til about 8, that works, too. That is when it is most crowded and parking is harder, tho. I think it will be cool to have everyone there. I'll try to remember to bring some chairs but bring your own sunscreen :-)
If you want to be sure I have a chair for you, or you want to sell some of your own stuff in our stand, contact me before Sunday. Also, you can bring in your own comfy lawn chair if you wish. If they ask about it, tell them you are joining a friend that is selling. They won't care as long as you are paying to get in lol.
From the north, take the Madonna Road exit, and turn right to cross the freeway. When you come to the light at Higuera, turn right. As you are passing the cemetary, watch for Elk's on your right, at the end of the car dealership. Turn right, and follow it until you see all the cars parked.
From the south take the Prado Rd exit, and you can't miss it right in front of you.
It is preferred to RSVP so I can bring a chair for you, so please if you want to go, so I will have something for you to sit on. Otherwise, bring a chair yourself. You can also call me at 602-0051 if you are late, and to find out exactly where I am.

The Bent Axles club has this annual event with 200 vintage cars up to 1969 crusing into Santa Maria to display at the Radisson. We will head on down there to check out the cars to start off the day. I will get down there about noon to get started checking them out before our BBQ. It actually runs from Friday to Sunday, but we are only going the day of the BBQ.
This is supposed to be one of the great car shows in our area, so I want to check it out.
Please so we can arrange a time and place to meet. You can call 602-0051 when you get there if you can't let me know before.

NOTICE: To attend this event, you MUST have attended a previous event with this group. This is to protect the privacy of the host. Otherwise, you can call later in the evening to see if we are going out anywhere at the end of the BBQ.
One of our members has graciously offered to have a BBQ at their home in Santa Maria. I will have more details on this event as we get closer, but mark this off on your calendar. You won't want to miss it.
Please so I can let the host know how many people to be ready for. You will get the location and directions when you RSVP and are confirmed as a member in good attendance of events. We just want to know who is coming, and not have a lot of strangers in their home.
